How We Invest
We try to keep things simple.
For entrepreneurs: Every investor under the sun harps on it, but try to finagle an introduction to us. We know that’s not always possible and is systemically limiting for those outside this ecosystem, so founders are welcome to cold e-mail if they think it is a good fit. We hope you will understand that we can only respond to those inquiries in which we have interest.
For investing partners: Next Carolina Ventures is an entirely family-controlled entity and does not seek outside investor capital. We do, however, rely upon trusted industry partners for deal flow and shared due diligence. We have a number of such relationships, but we are open to syndicates or other opportunities as appropriate.
Investment Stage: Pre-seed, Seed, Seed+ (or whatever we are calling it these days). Basically, we try to invest early.
Investment: $10k-100k. We average 8-10 such investments per year. We also make a number of one-off investments via various funds and syndicates in which we participate. We do not lead rounds.
Our focus: Please see our investment theme page. We are driven to make an impact, but this is not a philanthropic fund. We are looking for best-in-class investments with hyper-growth potential. We do not have a strict geographic focus, but almost all investments are U.S.-centric.
Our role: We are tiny angel investors with limited bandwidth! We are happy to be a sounding board and a connector, but generally not desirous of official advisory or board roles.
